"La Teta Asustada" (2009) - Twitter review

It has been a while since I wrote a Twitter review, but "La Teta Asustada" inspired me to continue. It is my thoughts in 140+ characters , while I was watching it.

• In the mood for some serious drama. I picked Best Foreign Language Film nominee "La Teta Asustada" by Claudia Llosa.

• Old lady's song shocked me so much. How people can do such horrible things?! They create the hell on Earth.

• Such films scare me more than any horror, because they are about something that really happens.

• The scene where they are preparing old lady's body for a funeral is very detailed. I didn't see it before in any other film. They usually show just a cemetery full of people, who gathered before a closed coffin, in American films.

• The main character is a young girl Fausta. She suffers from a physiological disease 'The Milk of Sorrow', which is also called 'The Frightened Tit', because her pregnant mother was raped.

• Actress Magaly Solier played her part great, she made her character very vulnerable, reserved and fearful. Sometimes her Fausta reminds me a wild animal, which was captured and doesn't know how to get away from its cage.

• And when Fausta is miserable, she starts to sing about her feelings. This is how her mother taught her. It brings at least a few minutes of freedom for her.

• Every time Fausta is in a crowd, there is so much tension, like she will break any minute. But she remains strong and fights her disease.

• All minor parts are played by unknown actors or just local people, but they looks very natural, which makes this film even more realistic and down-to-earth.

• While I'm watching this feature film, I start to think that it is a documentary about hard life of people from Peru.

• By the way, Solier has a beautiful voice, and she is the author of the songs, which her character sings in this drama.

• The most wicked scene was the marriage of over 50 people. A private ceremony just for two is very expensive, so they wait till there are more fiancées and make a big holiday for all of them.

• I'm sure that Fausta's employer has an interesting life story to share, but it was left in shadows.

• Even if all people in the world will tell you to overcome your fear, only you can do it by believing in yourself. But you still need at least one good friend, whom you can trust, who will help you and push you in the right direction.  

• "La Teta Asustada" in an inspiring and challenging story, which shows the hard way to freedom. And without freedom we can't be happy. It deserves 7/10.

"Gremlins" (1984) - Twitter review

I thought I should continue tweeting while watching a movie. If you want to know how I manage to do both at the same time, I can say I was learning how to do it for a couple of years. This evening I watched "Gremlins" (1984). If you haven't seen it, you should beware of spoilers.

• It's directed by Joe Dante. As I know he was learning from the great Steven Spielberg.
• I like this atmosphere. 80s was a wonderful decade. #Gremlins
• There is something in a box, which makes strange noises and sings... #Gremlins?
• Ok, there are 3 rules how to take care of that creature. Always that magical number 3...
• Haha, 'never feed it after midnight'. Is it a gremlin or a blonde on diet?
• I like that billboard made in Indiana Jones style.
• It's a bit strange to watch a Christmas movie after sunny and warm day.
• Kathleen Kennedy helped to make it. She produced a bunch of great movies after and she likes working with Spielberg.
• Zach Galligan is so young here.
• Belinda Balaski is great playing an unhappy angry woman [bitch].
• Chris Columbus wrote its script. It was his second big movie as a screenwriter.
• That gremlin is the nicest creature I've ever seen. I hope he won't kill anybody...
• First lesson: not all inventions work properly. #Gremlins
• Second lesson: you should never water a gremlin. #Gremlins
• I have a strange feeling that I won't like them so much in the end. #Gremlins
• With every minute the movie's becoming scarier and scarier.
• Michael Winslow [who played Sgt. Larvell Jones in "Police Academy"] was voicing some of these #Gremlins.
• And they ATTACK! It means never judge people/creatures by their appearance. #Gremlins
• Third lesson: bad working inventions in the kitchen can save your life. Literally. #Gremlins
• Hoyt Axton is good portraying weird inventor. Nice man. #Gremlins
• Fourth lesson: drunk policemen are jerks. It's obvious, but still sometimes it can save your nerves and time.
• Why does Spielberg like to make stories about alien things?
• "Smokeless Ashtray can solve all your problems." I doubt it.
• These guys know how to party! #Gremlins
• And I like this cheery soundtrack.
• "Now I have another reason to hate Christmas." #Gremlins #quotes
• The final is something. Bloody, dramatic and funny. #Gremlins
• Definitely, 10/10. Classic.

"The Beaver" (2011) - Twitter review

As I like writing in Twitter as much as here, so I want to keep my coverage of "The Beaver" movie. I was tweeting about it while watching and it looks like a short reviews about what I like and dislike in that movie. So, probably, it's the weirdest review you've ever seen. Yes, I've put it in the right order.

About "The Beaver" (trailer, synopsis).

• Finally, I have time to watch BEAVER. First 10 min were witty. I doubt this movie is boring.
• If someone haven't seen it, they shouldn't read my tweets. Beware of spoilers :) #BEAVER
• Mel Gibson's suicide attempt was funny and ... pathetic. #BEAVER
• It looks that a person really needs help when starts talking to the puppet. #BEAVER
• Anton Yelchin is not a bad actor. #BEAVER
• I really like a screen duo Mel Gibson & Jodie Foster. Since their brilliant appearances in Maverick. #BEAVER
• #BEAVER in a strange movie, but still it's inspirational.
• But sex scenes along this puppet? Really? Definitely weird. And crazy. #BEAVER
• If #BEAVER were a TT, it will be fun. But I have no time for this :)
• After jokes and wittiness #BEAVER becomes more and more
  depressive.
• "Carpe diem" ("Seize the day"). #BEAVER
• I agree that drugs and shrinks can't save a person. #BEAVER
• Now I'm scared of that puppet... #BEAVER
• That graffiti is something! I wonder who did it... #BEAVER
• It's all about art therapy. #BEAVER
• And the prom speech was great. Very touching and truthful. #BEAVER
• Jennifer Lawrence was good, better than in "X-Men: First Class". #BEAVER
• How was Jodie Foster as a director? I can say she is more than just a talented actress. #BEAVER
