Golden Globes 2012 Film Winners

One of the most anticipating award events took place yesterday in Los Angeles. I haven't chance to watch it on-line (don't worry Oscars I won't miss!), but I'm going to do it today. Many actors, actresses, directors, composers were at the 69 Annual Golden Globe Awards and gave some interesting interviews on the red carpet, which I'm very excited to see.

Ricky Gervais was the host. His opening speech was something hilarious (watch it below). He said that the Golden Globes are just like the Oscars, but without all that esteem.

As you know, I made my predictions, and I was very lucky to guess many of the winners, except for Best Actress (Drama), Best Supporting Actor, Best Animated Feature, Best Foreign Film and Best Original Song. It's 9 out 14, so I think it is a good result.

My favourite acceptance speech was said by Michelle Williams, who told us that she considers herself the mother first and the actress second and thanked her daughter. So touching. The most emotional winner was Meryl Streep. I adore this woman.

You can also read some interesting quotes of the night on The Guardian website. And some interesting videos from the big event you can find here.

The Winners (only in film categories):

Best Picture (Drama)
"The Descendants"

Best Picture (Comedy or Musical)
"The Artist"

5 Sexiest Film Characters of 2011

Inspired by Empire magazine, I made my own list of the sexiest characters. But it is so hard to choose, so I decided to make it in the limit of one year.

P.S. Those characters are in no particular order.

1. Captain Jack Sparrow
Film: "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides"

Yes, Johnny Depp still has it. His pirate is one of the most memorable, sly, and funny characters of the decade. And, of course, I like his hair and make-up. If someone says it makes him less manly, I will laugh, because he is more manly than half of todays' Hollywood.

2. Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto
Film: "X-Men: First Class"

Michael Fassbender played a few memorable characters in 2011, but I choose his young version of the great villain. Why? He is handsome, powerful, a bit mysterious. Thanks to him I wasn't missing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in this X-men film.

3. Jamie Rellis
Film: "Friends with Benefits"

There were a few similar films about friendship and sex this year, but this one I enjoyed the most, mostly because of Mila Kunis. She is smart, independent and beautiful, and her Jamie Rellis was the same. I'm glad that this Ukrainian girl makes her dreams come true.

P.S. I bet many men were jealous of Justin Timberlake, while they were watching "Friends with Benefits".

4. Marilyn Monroe
Film: "My Week with Marilyn"

Marilyn was a sex symbol, and she is still one of the most beautiful and charismatic women of all times, so she totally deserves to be included in my list. Michelle Williams is a good actress and she perfectly channeled the inner beauty of miss Monroe, which always made her so special.

5. Driver
Film: "Drive"

This film is one of my favourite of the previous year. Ryan Gosling shocked me again, because he played his part very well. We don't know the real name of his character, but I admire the choice he made. If "Drive" had another final, I probably wouldn't include its main character here. Yes, it is incredibly sexy when a man saves a woman.

Who are your top-5 sexiest characters of the previous film year? Leave your list in comments below.

Top-5 movies of the week - 25.11 - 01.12

1."My Week with Marilyn"
This film tells a story about Marilyn Monroe's first visit to the UK, while she was filming "The Prince and the Showgirl" along with Laurence Olivier. They had a very tense relationship, which made their work incredibly complicated. And then one of the most famous women of all times meets Colin Clark, a 23 year-old assistant, who is charming and totally adores her. They spend together one unforgettable week, which brings Marilyn some crazy thoughts about leaving her world and starting a new life here, in England. But there is a catch. She is a newlywed.
Starring Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Redmayne, Dominic Cooper with Emma Watson and Judi Dench.
Directed by Simon Curtis.
Trailer.

2."The Artist"
Its trailer just stole my heart. Modern black-and-white film tells us a story of George Valentin, who is a star of silent films. The era of sound comes and it mean the end of his career while all just starts for young extra Peppy Miller. Their destinies cross, but nobody know for how long. I think it's a great way to make a tribute of charming silent films.
Starring Jean Dujardin, Bérénice Bejo.
Directed and written by Michel Hazanavicius.
Trailer.

3."The Muppets"
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary and Mary from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. (Official website)
Starring Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper.
Directed by James Bobin.
All trailers, clips and other videos you can find on the official Youtube channel.
"The Pig With The Froggy Tattoo" parody trailer.

4."Hugo"
A story of an orphan boy who lives a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. An eccentric girl Isabelle helps him while he searches for the answer to a mystery linking the father he recently lost, the ill-tempered toy shop owner living below him and a heart shaped lock, seemingly without a key. Based on Brian Selznick's award winning and imaginative New York Times bestseller called "The Invention of Hugo Cabret", this magical tale is Academy Award-winner Martin Scorsese's first film shot in 3D.
Starring Asa Butterfield, Chloe Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jude Law.
Directed by Martin Scorsese.
Trailer.

5."Arthur Christmas"
This animated film is going to shows us how the big operation "Christmas" works on the North Pole. The only thing I don't like about it so far - it is a soundtrack.
Directed by Sarah Smith.
And there will be voices of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton.

"My Week with Marilyn" (2011) - Clip with Emma Watson

New clip from "My Week with Marilyn" shows us a flirt scene, when Colin, the main character, asks Lucy, the wardrobe girl, out. Eddie Redmayne and Emma Watson look great together, you can feel some chemistry between their characters. And I like how she says "I'm free on Saturday".

Starring Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Redmayne, Dominic Cooper with Emma Watson and Judi Dench.
Directed by Simon Curtis ("David Copperfield" 2000, "A Short Stay In Switzerland" 2009).

Release dates - November 23 (USA), November 25 (UK).

"My Week With Marilyn" (2011) - Black-and-white poster

While I'm writing a much bigger post, I thought I should share this beautiful black-and-white poster from upcoming biopic about Marilyn Monroe. This film has already been presented at the New York Film Festival and some critics love it, but some dislike it. I'm trying not to listen to them, because I know I'll like it.

Moviefone revealed this new and gorgeous poster. Michelle Williams was photographed by Brigitte Lacombe, whose works you can see by visiting her official website.

Starring Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Redmayne, Dominic Cooper with Emma Watson and Judi Dench.
Directed by Simon Curtis ("David Copperfield" 2000, "A Short Stay In Switzerland" 2009).

"My Week With Marilyn" (2011) - Trailer, synopsis

This upcoming film tells a story about Marilyn Monroe's first visit to the UK, while she was filming "The Prince and the Showgirl" along with Laurence Olivier.

It seems to be very dramatic, sometimes desperate, but also romantic and breathtaking story of a famous woman and a guy, who has nothing but to show her a different world, where she can be herself and don't play someone's roles.

Based on a true story.

Starring Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Redmayne, Dominic Cooper with Emma Watson and Judi Dench.
Directed by Simon Curtis ("David Copperfield" 2000, "A Short Stay In Switzerland" 2009).
