Do Edward Herrmann and John Hughes look alike?

I was very surprised while watching "The Man with One Red Shoe" with Tom Hanks. I though I've seen John Hughes in one of the minor roles. But after I checked the cast, I found out that it was Edward Herrmann. I saw every season of "Gilmore Girls", where Herrmann portrayed one of the important characters, Richard Gilmore, and somehow I still managed to mix up those two different, but talented people.

Maybe, that's glasses, which make their appearance similar, or there is really something alike about them. Does anyone see any resemblance? If yes, please, leave a comment below.

"Dark Shadows" (2012) - TV Spot №3

"What is your age?"
"Fifteen."
"Fifteen and no husband? You must put those birthing hips to good use at once."

New 1-minute promo for Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows" is even more hilarious than the trailer. Johnny Depp did a great job this time, and I have no doubts that the film will prove it soon. If you still don't know what about this story is, it takes place in 1972, when a vampire wakes up from his long sleep. He returns to his manor and meets new people, who aren't very excited about such a creepy cohabitant. His name is Barnabas Collins, and he wants to return the days of glory for his family.

There is more of Michelle Pfeiffer this time. Her Elizabeth Collins Stoddard will have some problems with her eccentric ancestor, but at least she won't be bored with him.

"IRON MAN 2" - Soundtrack

"Iron Man 2" is my most favourite film with one of the Avengers. They say that director Jon Favreau is a big fan of AC/DC, so it's no wonder that the soundtrack consists totally just from the songs of this  legendary rock band. They match perfectly Tony Stark's character.

The official soundtrack includes 15 tracks from ten different albums, and I say those one are the best AC/DC songs:

1. "Shoot to Thrill"
2. "Rock 'N' Roll Damnation"
3. "Guns for Hire"
4. "Cold Hearted Man"
5. "Back in Black"
6. "Thunderstruck"
7. "If You Want Blood (You've Got It)"
8. "Evil Walks"
9. "T.N.T."
10. "Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be"
11. "Have a Drink on Me"
12. "The Razor's Edge"
13. "Let There Be Rock"
14. "War Machine"
15. "Highway to Hell"

And here is live performance with some "Iron Man 2" footage. Enjoy!

Old Hollywood: One lovely widow dress

It is easier to make a man to propose, when a woman is wearing something beautiful, which makes him to fall in love with her again. But Scarlett O'Hara managed to say 'Yes' while wearing... her widow dress for the second time! If you saw colourful "Gone with the Wind" by Victor Fleming, you saw those gorgeous attires Ms. or Mrs. O'Hara has worn. But Rhett Butler loved her not because of how she looked, though this one was incredibly elegant.

Vivien Leigh was perfect for this role. She wore every dress with such self-esteem. You can judge her heroine, but I adore her. And Clark Gable played the perfect man for her.

It isn't the last post dedicated to the costumes of Old Hollywood films, so stay tuned.

"Dark Shadows" (2012) - 9 character posters

New character posters for Gothic dramatic comedy "Dark Shadows" have arrived! They don't show us something new about characters, but I love those bright eclectic colours, especially used in posters with Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp. And everyone's eyes look very beautiful though unreal. I'm so exited to see this new dark story by Tim Burton...

Old Hollywood: Marilyn Monroe as Clara Bow

I thought it's time to start a new feature on my blog. It is called "Old Hollywood", and I'm going to post something about classic films, actors, actresses and directors, many of whom are now forgotten, from time to time.

I don't know much about silent film actress Clara Bow, except that her life wasn't cheerful as she pretended. This photoshoot with Marilyn Monroe is also a play, which shows us that it is actresses' job to smile every time and seem to be happy, even if they don't feel like it.

These lovely pictures were made by talented photographer Richard Avedon.

"DARK SHADOWS" (2012) - First official trailer

"Are you stoned or something?"
"They tried stoning me, my dear. It did not work."

Finally, the very first trailer and poster for Tim Burton's new film were presented yesterday!

Until I have seen this video, I thought that "Dark Shadows" is going to be even darker and scarier than "Sleepy Hollow" (1999), but it turns out to be funnier. Yes, Johnny Depp can't be creepy even with that strange make-up on. And I already like Helena Bonham Carter's character along with the whole family, in whose house Barnabas Collins stays. It must be really hard for him to adjust to the life in 1972. Eva Green is also good portraying the wicked witch, who wants to make Barnabas love her.

The film will be out in a few months. I can't wait to watch it!

Ian McKellen in Pet Shop Boys' music video "Heart"

Many famous actors and actresses starred in some music videos - Halle Berry starred in Limp Bizkit's version of "Behind Blue Eyes"; Angelina Jolie was great in "Did My Time" by Korn; Macaulay Culkin, Chris Tucker, Danny Glover and many others appeared in Michael Jackson's clips; and you can see Robert Downey Jr. in "I Want Love" by Elton John.

But I was so surprised when I noticed that the Vampire from one music video of Pet Shop Boys looks like Ian McKellen. And it turns out to be him! I like his image of an old and noble vampire, who knows how to hypnotize a young pretty girl.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" (2001) - Deleted opening scene

You know that the first film of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy starts with prologue, where the story of the rings is told, and then we see Gandalf the Grey, who arrives in The Shire, meets Frodo and visits Bilbo.

This deleted scene shows that "The Fellowship of the Ring" might have started with Bilbo Baggins' short story about the Hobbits, their lifestyle and habits. I find this opening very interesting and amusing, because there wasn't much time for those great ancient race to be on the screen. And Hobbiton is a very beautiful place indeed.

I can only imagine how hard it was for Peter Jackson to choose between those two great opening scenes.

"DARK SHADOWS" (2012) - 5 new pictures

This gothic thriller has to be new Tim Burton's hit. So far we have just pictures, which show that the film is going to be visually gorgeous. Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Eva Green look different from what we used them to see, but Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Julia Hoffman is just stunning.

Can't wait to see the first trailer!

"The Simpsons" - "Game Of Thrones" Titles Parody

"The Simpsons" was always great at making fun of different cultural phenomenons, but this time the creators of this animated series outdid themselves. They made a brilliant parody titles of epic "Game Of Thrones". Mr. Burns and Smithers turned out to be the funniest characters in those medieval costumes. Just watch it!

"The Hobbit": Video Blog #6 from the Set

Peter Jackson is so good at making me more exited to watch these two films. He shows us something about them, but keeps quiet about even more things.

"The Hobbit" team is still on locations somewhere in New Zealand. I bet the people, who was the part of "The Lord of The Rings", have sentimental flashbacks constantly. Thanks to this video we have more time to discover what kind of people the new actors, who play the dwarves, are. I think they are getting along great.

You can see again how much effort everyone puts in this duology. They are trying to film the most beautiful views of New Zealand, which isn't as easy as it sounds. Many views are filmed especially for 3D from the helicopters, and they will look magnificent on the big screen with Howard Shore's music.

Andy Serkis must have been a huge help for Peter Jackson all this time, because he is a 2nd unit director and always works so hard. But when he called the director 'PJ', I started laughing very hard. What a great friends they have become!

"- How can it be 133 days for three films and 127 days for two films?
- It can be easily explained. We all are 10 years older, so we're going a little slower."

And Ian McKellen told us that we shouldn't be worried about actors, because they have great conditions there (the food looks delicious).

"Despicable Me 2" - Teaser

The first trailer for "Despicable Me" sequel was released, but it looks more like a teaser. Four lovely minions are singing some kind of a song, where the only understandable word is 'potato'. It is a hilarious video, and I'm so glad that those yellow creatures are back!

By the way, this animated film will be also in 3D (that circus fife, which tries to get out from the screen borders, is a huge hint). Its creators made it very impressive in the first film, so "Despicable Me 2" may be the only film I will watch in 3D this year.

"The Avengers" (2012) - Trailer #2

"Director Fury, I think it's time."

Oh, I think so too. Time for a new trailer for "The Avengers", of course.

Finally, there is plenty of new footage: how Nick Fury gathers the team, Black Widow has very close relationship with Hawkeye, we see other S.H.I.E.L.D. members, who are played by Cobie Smulders and Clark Gregg, for the first time.

And I can't wait so see how all Avengers will train for meet Loki's army.
